General Information

GENERAL INFORMATION for Kids Program

The RNYC Sailing School offers kids, from ages 8 and older, week long sailing day camps and adult keel boat learn-to-sail programs! We have a fleet of sailboats consisting of Optis, Lasers and C420's dinghies, as well a 28 foot keel boat. For more information about these programs or to ask about Adult Learn-to-Sail registration, please email sailingschool@rnyc.nf.ca.

Once you complete this registration, you will receive confirmation from this system.

However you will still require an email from the RNYC Sailing School that will confirm availability of space before registration is complete. Thanks!

KIDS CAMPS ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

1) Sail Canada Membership All participants of the kids sailing program are subject to a one-time annual membership fee from Sail Canada of $16. This will be collected in-person at the first day of the camp.

2) Friday BBQ Fundraiser Each Friday of the sailing camps we host a BBQ for the kids and use the $8 lunch fee as a fundraiser to support the maintenance and replacement of the school dinghy fleet and coach boats.

Kids not wishing to participate in the BBQ are free to bring a long a packed lunch.

3) HST tax for campers 15 years and older only As per CRA regulations we must charge HST to this age group.

This tax will be collected outside of the registration system on the first day of the camp.

KIDS Learn to Sail CanSail Levels 1 to 4: Kids ages 8 and Older

Pick the dates that best suit your schedule and the Head Coach will assign you to your appropriate sailing level. CANSail Levels 1-2: Introduction to sailing. CANSail 1 teaches sailors the fundamental sailing skills including basic sheeting, steering, and boat handling on all points of sail. Sailors can sail within defined boundaries set by an instructor. CANSail 2 teaches sailors to adjust their bodies and boats for changes in direction and wind speed while sailing, and to perform boat-handling maneuvers in a controlled manner while in a controlled setting. -Fundamental Stage- CANSail Levels 3-4: Intermediate sailing. CANSail 3 teaches sailors to integrate the fundamental boat handling maneuvers and balance with basic tactics and strategy as well as applied sail trim. Sailors are exposed to a greater variety of conditions and participate in a club race or club training camp. CANSail 4 teaches sailors to perform advanced boat handling maneuvers in a variety of conditions. Sailors can successfully execute maneuvers in competitive settings and for tactical and strategic purposes. Sailors participate in a one to two-day local regatta. -Learn to Sail Fast Stage- -
